When we take weekend trips to see our college kids or family members, our two labs come along too. They enjoy the road trips and being with everyone.
This weekend we stayed at a hotel where a number of college students were also staying. Our daughter's team was staying there and the hotel permitted dogs. It's amazing the reaction the dogs get from the young adults. Everyone wants to pet them and then shares stories about their dogs. They miss their own pets and welcome the chance to give ours extra attention.
Our own kids love to see the dogs too. Being around the dogs can't help but make you smile. Having pets is an extra responsibility, but well worth it. They are very much a part of our family.
We said goodbye to our last pet a number of years ago & as soon as I'm retired, another dog will make its way into our hearts. I love that you take the time to take the dogs to see your children and others. Labs are such wonderful dogs. Although now gone, my son & daughter-in-law had one who helped raise their son (te he). She would play ball with their then toddler who threw it about two feet, would fetch it & put it back in his hand. What a special dog, as I'm sure yours are.
